Daneault began in a moment of quiet rediscovery. While sorting through her parents’ belongings after her father’s passing, Penny Crook uncovered her mother’s handbag. A piece that had weathered decades of life and still held its shape, elegance, and meaning. That handbag wasn’t just beautiful. It was built to last.
Moved by its timelessness and the memories stitched into every seam, Penny envisioned a modern brand rooted in the same values: enduring quality, versatile beauty, and the stories women carry with them. Our leather is LWG Gold-certified. We pride ourselves on using the highest global standard for sustainable, ethically-produced leather. We exclusively partner with tanneries that prioritize water conservation, chemical safety, and ethical labor practices.
Many of our pieces are crafted with vegetable-tanned leather, a traditional method that avoids harsh chemicals and allows each bag to age gracefully, developing a patina unique to its owner. We also ship using recyclable, minimalist packaging that’s as intentional as the bags inside. Sustainability isn’t just a trend for us, it’s a responsibility. We build bags meant to be worn, loved, and passed down, reducing the need for replacement and encouraging thoughtful, long-term ownership.
